I'm going to buy at least a couple bottles of Cos at that price.
I like Cos, and Cos in great years I REALLY like.

What do you think about $155 for that 2016 Cos (98-100WA), JimS.

Re: Seems to me 2016 is coming out priced fairly rationally.

I'm 58. I'll be 70-72ish in 12-14 years, when these wines are 13-15 years old, right in my wheelhouse.
I see no reason why I should refrain from buying the 2016 vintage, especially if prices are reasonable.

Seems to me 2016 is coming out priced fairly rationally.

Looking at these wines like the 94-95 point Cantemerle coming in at $32ish, plenty of other similar examples like that.
Seems reasonable to me. Thoughts?

I like Lytton Springs more than Geyserville.

To me the Lytton Springs is very classy, seems more in balance, not as over the top as the racy Geyserville. At least in 2014.
But I love the Geyserville as well.
But the Lytton Springs seems more balanced altogether.

Re: So what have you bought lately?

Will do, Gerry. FWIW, I've had the 89 Branaire 4-5 times over the last 10 years and I've always found it at least good.
Say What? "At least good" is HARDLY a ringing endorsement of a wine at that price.

I think it is amazing that Francois' Krug champagne with 40-50% of the bottle empty still had great life to it. How was it able to survive so long with so much exposure to oxygen?

Amen brother. I love drinking a good 2004 or 2006 or 2002. I love the big vintages too, but I love being able to experience the unique character of a 2004, say, or a 2002, and say, ah, yes, that has the personality of that summer/fall. Vintage "strength" or "greatness" is overrat...

I'll probably buy another mixed case or two of 2015s, mostly from the right bank. And, likewise, I'll probably buy another 4-6 mixed cases of 2016, ...

I generally agree with you on vintage schmintage, Bobby G. I generally think it's a bunch of bullshit. So it appears you are talking about the 1996 Barde Haut? 2000 vs. 2003 Sociando Mallet

I have had both wines now in the past month. They are both outstanding wines. The 2000 has an amazing almost over the top green to it that is actually really appealing, if you like that style of wine. Which I do. It has great complexity on both the palate and nose, still youthful but providing great...

Alfred conducted a green harvest behind his father's back in 1994. That's the story I remember seeing Alfred tell in a video that was actually posted...

Btw, Parker isn't correct with 1994, as Alfred Tesseron arrived at PC in 2000 and this is his first vintage. Is that true, GBF? I keep hearing how they are "building their brand." <rolls eyes> Put me in the "very skeptical" camp. If it is SO good -- like, 95-97 point good -- how is it selling for $24.99 in 2015 and 2016, two supposedly great Bordeaux vintages? I've ordered a few bottles of the 2015 en fut...

This is the first year in over 20 years that I have let my Wine Advocate subscription lapse.
I used to get the renewal in the mail and send back the $75 check.
Now you have to go on line and purchase your subscription, too much work in my busy life, and providing an excuse not to renew.
