All things off vintage

Just popped the '93 Grand Puy Ducasse for my lady friend as it is her birth year...a lovely wine, def. doesn't have the power of the big vintages, but had all the subtle charms with elegant secondary and tertiary notes...powdered cherry, earth, petrichor and herb notes. Not an intellectual wine but ...

Just had the 1983 at our Zoom. I am not a Cos fan, but this was quite lovely. Look out for the 1981 Trotanoy. In a really good place now. I was just telling Orlando Bobby this...I said we need to find the '81 Trotanoy, I hear its fantastic...will be on the look out for the Cos...love these so-calle...

Re: Figeac vertical tasting - do I join the Rolland haters?

William Kelley is earning some real cred in my book with his recent commentary on Berserkers, distinguishing himself from other critics at least in principle. That said, his scores on the 19-21 vintages are virtually indistinguishable from the rest of the “rock star” wine commentariat, so it’s hard...

2015 righties 👎

Small sample size...Seem wayy too high in alc. and over ripe

I thought the 2015 Figeac tasted last year was a brutal quaff

Luv me some '01 d'issan ...great start Alex and I though the 2001 D’Issan was significantly better and preferable to the Rauzan Segla, which I found to be surprisingly standoffish. I found the d'Issan to be far better out of the gate. Beautiful Margaux fruit. While the Rauzan definitely needed to b...

:!: Claudius, there are plenty of not green peppery 04 burgs... Granted, I think that 06 is a better vintage in both Burg and Bord, but the 07s and 04 Burgs are not disasters... Like any poor vintage, you need to look for the stars... But look at 97 Poujeaux or 93 Mouton or 91 Latour, great wines in...
