Re: What's the best way to get from Bordeaux to San Sebastián?

Jim,

We rented a car at the airport. Visited Alex then headed out and back for Tim's 50th celebration. Autoroute fabulous to travel on once you're out of Bordeaux. Biarritz along the way also a nice stop. We also toured Rioja en route but you may be pressed for time knowing your schedule.

Congrats JF. A nice way to celebrate the next chapter in life. Nice to hear the 1990 PB is still a stunner. Not sure which is better but depends on the bottle between 89 & 90. I wouldn't say no to either.

Mild flu like symptoms for us but unfortunately I've been suffering with Long Covid. Energy level in my boots with horrible brain fog. Unable to recover with most physical activity. For our anniversary last night with chateaubriand we enjoyed another very baby Lafite-like bottle of this Pauillac hitting well above its price point. 7th bottle from case and best yet. A sad time in Bordeaux for sure. We've created many fabulous memories with BWE but our visit in 2005 to du Fargues ranks up there near the top. Great report Izak. A comment and correction. First Angelus rating 89-99pts seems a typo. Using the word sappy in many of your descriptions for me is a detractor and off putting term. I'm not sure if this is an interpretation error or you truly mean thick, syrupy, extracted or pine tar??

David, I agree that the Monbousquet during Parker years was over naked/extracted with 2015 my last vintage as well. 2009 Monbousquet

Jim, You're not referring to Montelena Estate Cab as bleh? It would be too young to drink for most and though I haven't had this in over a decade through the late 70s when it started through the late 90s I thought it was one of Calfornia's finest. Nic, On our Spain tour we wandered through many bottles of Verdejos. Refreshing, crisp, citrusy and 11-12% mostly. Some are a little blah but we sampled through enough to find many favourites.
