Re: Rioja visit help

JAL, We're almost done our time on Costa del Sol...leaving Monday and it has been a great trip. A few years back we also toured Rioja and San Sebastien. For us the highlights were just exploring tapas/pinxtos bars in Logrono one night. Just find Calle Laurel and walk in and out of places. They have ...

Re: BWE LONDON 2023: Day Two: Italian Night

Jim, I used to call it the Valpolicella Flu. Too much to drink, jet lag etc in such a short period. I know how we felt coming across the pond last Monday and it took us a full week to adjust. Certainly we were better a few decades ago but it knocks the stuffing out of us now. I'm sure the whole BWE ...

Harry For the most part I've enjoyed the 05s but they are evolving at a glacial pace. The Duhart Milon is an incredible QPR. l'Arrose, Lafon Rochet, Pichon Baron, Barton, Malescot Gruaud and others are fantastic. Many others are struggling to show their colours and not sure if they ever will. One ma...

Kudos in taking one for the team Ian. certainly a controversial vintage that has been a bit of a mine field with some hits and misses along the way. I believe I may have two 03 bottles left in the cellar Trolong Mondot and a Pontet Canet the latter were mostly enjoyed early on and we had no issues f...

Everyone's looking great! Jim,

You are one of few that can cut through those young tannins and find joy but who knows maybe with a little air and modern wine making this baby may surprise you and others. So ITNOS why not? You only live once and with 5 in tow you've got one per 5 yrs and that brings you to what 80-85!!

As we all know taste is subjective and there are NO right and wrong answers to an individuals preference. Can't disagree with anything said or included on anyones lists. Most of the 82s sadly were at there peak about 10+ years ago with some like Latour and Mouton hanging in there but PLL and others have seen better days. In the latter category and at its peak I'd say Certan de May rivalled the number on...
