I'm particularly curious where the 2016s fit into this debate. They have been lauded by the media for their lower alcohol levels compared to '09/'10 (and '15)...

Galloni and Neal Martin scores released this week. Seems like a very good vintage and more classically styled than 2009, 2015, or 2010. NM's reviews seem reasonable and less hyperbolic than the early reviews.

I think it is more a slight retail tax on the bottles that are starting to hit shelves/last opportunity to buy pre-sale before they hit the shelves and not an overall vintage price increase.
