Re: Two 2012 Chateauneufs, one excellent, the other outstanding.

I have some of the 2012 Mon Aïeul. Great to hear. It was open for business I'm assuming?

Re: is 2009 a weak vintage?

Here are some classic Jeff Leve snippets from a couple of beloved Pauillacs: 2016 Lynch Bages 4/29/2017 - JEFF LEVE WROTE: 97 Points Powerful, concentrated and long and with depth of flavor, this wine is rich and fat, like someone wearing a gold Rolex and a diamond pinkie ring. There is a refined, s...

Re: is 2009 a weak vintage?

This looks like a fun thread to bump. Is there any development of the 2009s? More importantly - is there any way to drag Jeff Leve back here? I'm particularly curious where the 2016s fit into this debate. They have been lauded by the media for their lower alcohol levels compared to '09/'10 (and '15)...

Re: 2016 Bordeaux futures - anyone biting?

Galloni and Neal Martin scores released this week. Seems like a very good vintage and more classically styled than 2009, 2015, or 2010. NM's reviews seem reasonable and less hyperbolic than the early reviews.

Re: Rimmerman on BDX15

I think it is more a slight retail tax on the bottles that are starting to hit shelves/last opportunity to buy pre-sale before they hit the shelves and not an overall vintage price increase.

'87 geyserville was incredible. Tons of really pleasant secondary notes, as you point out

Re: Rimmerman on BDX15

Thanks for the advice, jckba. I have been building the cellar for A bit, but I have not been through the full cycle of aging (and enjoying) bdx vintages from near release. There's a certain component to the "chase" of acquiring the wine, as much as I love to drink it. I'm sure many can rel...

Re: Rimmerman on BDX15

No offense to anyone on this thread or beyond, but does anyone care about new Bordeaux vintages anymore? At least on this board? There has been so much great weather in Bordeaux since 1995 or even 1982, the notion of a 'great vintage' in Bordeaux (a rare once-a-decade affair once upon a little ice ...

Re: Rimmerman on BDX15

He just blasted out another piece on 2015/2016 yesterday: Dear Friends, Let's continue our discussion... About what? Bordeaux. I’m beating a dead horse at this point but you are about to be impaled by 2016 Bordeaux “greatest vintage in history” hyperbole including the inevitable and sacred Right Ban...

Re: 2015: what are you buying?

Sucked in for the 2nd year in a row. So far: 18x Pichon Lalande 24x Leoville Barton 24x Grand Puy Lacoste Considering Pontet Canet, Lynch? I haven't had the opportunity to buy many previous vintages EP/upon release (I'm only 29), so I see some value in '14-'15 compared to back vintages. Also - my fi...
