Re: 1992 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers NIELLON

Excellent
Niellon is the man.
Bright gold color. Floral nose. Bright acidity and the mellow hint of proper aging.
Minerals in the after taste.
You would never guess this was from 1992.

92 points.

And have a few more if anyone ever visits.

Niellon is one of my "go to" producers.

Re: Is Mark Squires being forthcoming?

WTF Now they are attacking Jeff Leve for having enthusiasm for great wines and the resources to pursue his desires. I'll just hang here with y'all. We can drink a bottle or two, disagree all night and still be best of friends. I think it's called maturity. But Susan says I've never displayed any so ...

Re: A quick hello

FWIW
I invited Ant to join.
He is an avid cyclist I know from a cycling forum.
Resides in Kent, Great Britain.
He was extolling the virtues of the 2005 Clos du Marquis to a bunch of gear heads, and I told him to come meet some real wino's.
Anyone who likes baby LLC is OK with me.

1992 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers NIELLON

In the nick of time and for science, I reached in the white burgundy bin again.
Susan's whipping up some lobster pasta wiht home grown herbs and the bottle is off to the ice bath.
Will it be OK? Back in a while.

Re: Old versus New Corton-Charlemange

Guys: A couple points; I'm all too familar with oxidized white burgundies. Anyone want to drink some Verget 96's??????? I'd feel guilty selling them. The Girardin was fine. I was really trying to convey it couldn't stand with the Latour in the long run. I didn't actually intend to age CC that long. ...

Old versus New Corton-Charlemange

Well my Dad is getting up there and wanted lobster for B-day dinner. I have a lot of white burgundy that needs to be consumed so I pulled the following and compared: 1990 Louis Latour Corton-Charlemange - Very austere at first but given time and air this wine transformed into a mellow classy Corton ...

One major point you left out.
Our BD is not running a commercial enterprise for profit.
I'm sure it has cost him in both time and money to support this endeavor.

Re: Ethics and wine critics

Well said Jim. What can you say about somebody who let his buddies become "wine critics" so they can share some of the proceeds and get perks? What are Squires' or Miller's actual credentials? Ravonni came/left and then the Thomases BS , the buddy critics and all the "pay me" fea...

Re: 6 Bordeaux with Sunday lunch

Considering the raw materials they had available in 1990, I think they really missed with 1990 Ch. Pichon Comtesse.
At that level the wine should have been stunning instead of just drinkable.
