Jim, Certainly looks like yuck. Freezing cold, blizzards and only 4hrs of daylight at this time of the year makes it much worse that if you have reasonable sunshine for a significant part of the day. Good luck in your travels Jim give it your best but sounds like there's not as much optimism heading...

Not sure how to use the poll?? Top three red Burg/White Burg and Rioja off page. Bordeaux still rules in our household. Italian reserved for pizza nights and usually Chianti Reserva. Haven't had Brunello/Barollo etc in ages( well maybe a year). Champagne a love but certainly pales in volume by compa...

I'll agree to disagree with the article conclusion that 2001 likely better than 2000. I'm on David G and OBs side on this one. Won't be drinking HB again if I can help it. Definitely not my style but to each his own. Barde Haut not a fan of either. I think they did a better job in the 90s and early 2000s but that pick of the 05 for WOTY was suspect to my taste to say the least.

Expect more from the pedigree and cost. When you pay that much for a bottle you want a sure thing and unfortunately it is becoming more and more a crap shoot especially with QPR. Hopefully the 14 brings more promise but what you describe is commonplace in St Emillion.

Underwhelming 86 Margaux

Our 35th anniversary needed something special but this disappointed. Not sure if just a bad bottle but a little disjointed on opening with some funky Margaux berries to start. Tannins still present and decanted at home 1 1/2hrs prior to dinner then recorked. Certainly tannins softened and wine round...
