Re: SF Ed and MichaelP in SF

Thank you SF Ed and Lisa for hosting and making such amazing and yummy foods. And the great wines! The gougeres were light and airy and cheesy. Nalan would not normally eat such things (bread and cheese) but she went through quite a few. The lasagna was unlike any you've probably had because it was ...

Re: London March 2023, who’s in?

1 - Are we setting up a week in Bordeaux after London that would mirror the trip we had planned in 2020? That changes the schedule A LOT! 2 - Or some shortened version, a few days (3?) after a few days (3?) in London? Also changes the schedule. 3 - We need to be in the Jacksonville, Florida area 3-8...

Re: BWE Saturday night… Wow. Just wow.

As usual it seems impossible to taste everything, so my top wines may not be inclusive:
82 Trotanoy
82 Forts
86 Latour
02 Haut Brion

I felt the 62 Conseillante was too thin for me but all intact, complex.

In the cellar this weekend, last time before the big weekend, and pulled our wines for Fri (some non-Bordeaux) and Sat (82 and 62 reds and 75 Rayne Vigneau). So not as old as I normally do but I am keen to try them all.

Salt and Bis perfect! We are fine moving on from Charlie.

Currently at the Hyatt near the White House as it was cheaper. Our friends in Georgetown that we normally stay with are moving to Cape Town. They promise us a wine experience there next year.

Looks like good friends Manju (was signed up for our BWE Bordeaux trip in 2020), Bill + Lynnette Cooke (came to BWE NYC, was it 2000?) and Ray + Kathy Mikiciuk (wine lovers that recently moved from TX to DC) are looking into joining the festivities.

Re: BWE 2022 in DC October 28/29

To do Oct we would have to cancel something. Choices choices...
The easiest would be 21-22 and we just miss a concert on the 21st, or only come for the 22nd.
14-15 we could maybe do 15. We still don't know the car event schedule that weekend yet.

Need to sell - Full cases?

Need to sell some wine and wondered if folks think there's much premium between a full case (OWC) vs just 6 bottles of the same wine. With only 6 bottles I then don't need to sell all of a certain wine if I only have one case.

I like 88s exactly because they have a lot of tannin, which has softened over the years for many wines. We had an 88 Haut Brion and 88 Margaux a few years ago and the Margaux was better. I disagree a bit with SF-Ed's note on the Margaux as I thought it was wonderful, albeit, agreeing a bit with Davi...
