"Report this post" button

You know the triangle with an exclamation mark in it... I don't really like the look of that, I was thinking of removing it and putting a text link on the right-hand side instead, under "quote" in the same sized text. What do people think of that?

Re: Avatars

OK I've disabled it. I do think it allows people to have more of an individuality about their posts though. When I go on forums and notice peoples' avatars I immediately associate that post with their previous ones I've noticed. My 2p anyway, happy to leave it off for now. BWE survived this long wit...

Avatars

I've enabled the avatar functionality and uploaded one to my account. I've also set the maximum size to 120x120 pixels.

What do people think about this?

That's my little vineyard by the way in my avatar.

Scott, the wine glass icons show whether there's been a new post since you last looked at the topic - i.e. full / nearly empty

Re: Question about BWE front door welcome message

Rotating images on home page are now updated.

You may have to do a hard refresh (Ctrl + F5) to see them though.

Re: Header / logo

I agree with you on the way the style of the logo clashes with the rest of the site, but it would mean redesigning a new logo, which we don't really have time for now. Also, I like the old logo's slightly "home-made" look, I think it makes the site welcoming, as well of course identifying ...

Header / logo

I've spent some time this morning looking at different ways of presenting the logo; colors, backgrounds etc. but I haven't been able to come up with anything I'm happy with. Since then I've had a go with the original BWE logo and the more I look at it, the more I like it. I've done it so it's "...

Re: "LET'S LIGHT THIS CANDLE!"

Hi, just checking in. It's half ten here but I'm off to watch Monty Python on TV. I'll do those extra photos in the morning, and yes I'll be around this weekend. I think we've pretty much covered everything major and Monday should be fine for an opening. I don't know how other people feel but person...

Re: Question about BWE front door welcome message

Excellent, I'm quite pleased with it myself.

I've just got those four images in there at the moment, which others should I add in?

I've got one or two of my own I might like to include.

Agree re. the text size, I think it goes well with the photo gallery at that size

Re: Question about BWE front door welcome message

OK I'll get some off MSN. The Img button is for displaying an image from another website (you put the URL of the image between the [img] tags) - you want to attach the images then put them inline with the text... I'm guessing you're using the quick reply box which doesn't have an attachments bit on ...

Re: Question about BWE front door welcome message

OK got that Jim. I've put Alex's surname in. One small thing, I think "good will" should not have a space. I'll change it for now but if I'm wrong please let me know.

Re: "LET'S LIGHT THIS CANDLE!"

OK I'll get these things set up. I'll put the basic page up as you say and that mod (th23) will allow us to easily edit the page later, I should be able to show you how to do that actually Jim so you can edit it yourself.

Re: "LET'S LIGHT THIS CANDLE!"

Yes we did discuss this before didn't we. I've had a look through the phpBB add ons and found this: th23 CMS (content management system) This modification will add a content management system (CMS) to your phpBB board - it will enable you to create articles (independent from posts) and display them ...

Re: Editing/deleting posts

Also, how do we tell when a message thread has a new message(s) in it without going into the thread itself? On MSN the thread appears bolder when a new message has been posted, as well as, obviously, being brought to the top. The wine glass is either full or half empty next to the topic - a little ...

Re: Editing/deleting posts

I think if some people find it "busy" it's just because it's new. Once people get used to the it they'll be able to zone in on the message content easily. All of the buttons/links will be useful at one time or another so it's better to leave them in place IMO. Putting borders round or a ba...

Re: Editing/deleting posts

I see what you mean David... I think you can only delete a post if there are no replies to your post (or posts after it) for example, I now don't have that delete button now you've replied to that thread.

Re: Editing/deleting posts

Is it possible for the board to append a note when a post is edited - say if it is edited more than 5 minutes after the original post? This might reduce confusion in a back/forth conversation if someone goes back to correct an erroneous post. I think it does, see this post here: http://www.bordeaux...
