Thanks. If I could drink those three grand vins in the proportion of say, 2-18-80 respectively, I'd be OK with that.

Funny, I don't feel funny reading them.

I've only had two vintages of Potensac. The 1996 is a riddle. The 2000 is a true vin de garde which I thought too much for its own good but it seems to be coming around a bit now.

My bad. It's Meddle>Fearless. Just listening to it now it has that "twilight" sedation thing going on that makes a lot of their music kind of tiring - if you're not sedated already. I'm surprised they never composed a tune and called it "Colonoscopy." Something apropos of a light...

I think there was a song I liked on Ummagumma or whatever the LP was called. Did it have a fade-out with football fans singing? Other than that not a PF fan. Maybe it was the production, or maybe it was the playing, or maybe it was the songs, like that, you know.

Couple of double rainbows appeared between storms last night right over the burn area. An omen? Of course Pele, the goddess of fire, is also a big deal in Hawaii. Maybe she doesn't want us to come? http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd19/Houndsong/doublerainbowrose002.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com...

Unfortunately, this does throw a wrench into things. The house was going to take a while to sell anyway. It's fairly pricey relative to the area, it's in a seemingly remote location (though literally 5 minutes from US 24, 7 minutes to a Walmart, 10 minutes to Woodland Park and all the usual convenie...

Finally. Been raining for 2 hours but not so hard as to wash out the driveway. This should put and end to the fire. The first couple of years here it seemed to be pretty wet in the spring (lots of snow right up to Memorial Day) and then in June a couple days a week at least instability showers with ...

Back home last night. Some smoke, but all our homes are intact as is our viewshed. This morning though it's a riff on Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring." Sounds like 90% of the birds have gone. I heard an elk trumpeting last night. Supposedly lots of bears about, looking for food.

What I don't get is the obsession with campfires. Some people are really reluctant to impose fire bans because of the fear it will hurt tourism. It's definitely true that it's a big deal for people to come up to the mountains and camp for a week and they want their campfires. Colorado is so dry thou...

The fire has abated on our, western side - for now. There is some westerdward creep along slope of the pass but this seems manageable. Tuesday was really the day when things went nuts with the fire running along the range and almost past our place, but the really bad breakout was at the other end wh...

Well, the fire is heading right up the pass for us and the latest overnight thermal image shows it about 2 miles away. TN 1988 Beychevelle

I like this wine more with each bottle. This has good concentration of flavor while at the same time sporting a lithe, ethereal mouthfeel. This has a little bit of funk and a some heavily weathered oak to go along with a nice pungent cabernet bouquet. While I have always appreciated the kinder, gent...
