This wine never disappointed me. Very much open and fresh in Rayas style. Spicy with plenty of Garrigue and kirsch. Good intensity and complexity. Not rich nor overtly opulent but well concentrated with a striking freshness for the hot vintage..... outstanding performing...

Thank's for your kind remark Danny. Indeed, these wines take some time to come around. Giraud is an estate run by 2 talented young generation brother and sister. Wine is improving from year to year. Try to find a bottle of their Grenaches de Pierre.....I promise you you will be even more impressed.....

Great range of wines. I Im happy that most of them did show so well, and it shows that 1999 is very much open for business now. Personally I think 1999 is better than expressed by the 'prof's.........

Indeed, this is a great wine. I drank more than a case of splits over the past years. My last bottle was about 2 months ago and showed very much open and balanced.
In case you drink a regular bottle I would recommend you to decant for a few hours........

I recommend to try more different 07 Rhône's - you almost can't go wrong but some 'lesser known' producers made really good stuff...........

The regular 2006 RU is a good but not overly impressive wine. The 2006 Cuvee Imperiale is a darned good complex wine with plenty of aging potential but already drinking very well.

Interesting Ian, so you basically you liked the wine ....maybe you should have tasted this wine blind without knowing its price...
BTW, I had this wine - made from 100-year-old Grenache several times and it never tasted gamy ...myabe your bottle stayed too long in the men's squash locker... ;)

Thanks for the note Stefan. I never really liked this wine very much. I remember right after release it was okay - never great - but re-tasted it a few times afterwards it showed poor, disjointed with some off-flavores.
