Winecask in Santa Barbara Closed?

Find out that the Winecask in SB is closed - both the restaurant and the connecting winestore......shame. 2000 Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reservee - O

Even without decanting the nose is extremely expressive. Nice garrigue with truffle and chocolate. Rich building palate extremely well concentrated with tons of dark fruit, thick spicy and creamy licorice, cigar box and chocolate truffle. Well balanced with a long solid finish.... doggone impressive...

NO I am not always drinking CdP's ........ Thanks for the note Nick. Trust me many CdP's will be better balanced after some age and gaining freshness. I trust this GV05 will as well although this regular cuvee is modern styled and sees some oak.

I'm going to be uncorking a 2006 Vieux Telegraphe "La Crau" tonight, Harry, in the name of science.... La Crau is old school so better decant that one for a while. The 98 in a 375 was pretty tannic last year-great wine though Jay, I think the 2006 is different than the classic VT style, m...

TN: 2007 Domaine de la Solitude CdR - Superb classic CdR

These 2007 Rhone wines, you almost can't go wrong with them....although this wine reveals an extra dimension besides the solid creamy fruit core.....a nice Garrigue and spiciness.
I really hope that restaurants find out the great price quality value of these 2007 Rhone wines.....superb !!!

You are right Tom. There's a general rul for drinking white CdP's. Drink them till age of 4-5 years with more freshness - then they go in a typically phase of colorization (kind of oxidation but chemically more complex - I will explain in my book). Length of this period depends on grape variety and ...

Re: Harry, help needed

Pappa, the hot 2003 with high alcohol and knowing that Beaurenard uses a fair amount of new oak makes this wine atypical and unbalanced and is not comparable with the 2004 and 2005. But it can be a surprising wine going with cheese and even cheese cake.....

Re: Harry, help needed

Pappa, indeed Chris, the 2004 Pegau is a great bottle of CdP and drinking very well now, although lesser rustic than usual for Pegau not in the last place because they had to add the whole white crop (1 ha) because of lacking volume, so there's a kind of silkiness in this wine that's atypical for Pe...
