I too am on a February Fast. I began mine of February 4th and intend to stay alcohol free for 4 weeks. Sounds like you have an excellent plan to end your fast.

Re: Downsizing
David, I know the feeling of wining down. My cellar is smaller than most so I would replace that bottles that were imbibed, thus keeping a constant number. That stopped a two years ago when my cardiologist "advised" me to cut back drinking, so the restocking stopped. I'm watching my cellar...

Re: Big Changes at St. Innocent.
I find his move to south of Salem to build the new winery is very interesting. While there are vineyards there, I don't know of any major wineries. So this seems to be a pioneering move. Property was probably cheaper than the Eola Amity Hills.

Big Changes at St. Innocent.
Just got an email from St. Innocent that they are going it alone and selling their interest in the present physical winery plant and the LLC with the owners of Zenith Vineyards. As a rule I don't age Zins. Though, I admit that Ridge Zins are one of the few Cali Zins that do age. Still, I have never found that doing so profoundly changed the wine. Just my .02 cents.

2015 Ch. Lalande, St. Julien
My grocery store has a better than average wine selection including California, Oregon, and France. My daily drinker there, when I drank daily, was a Kermit Lynch Cotes du Rhone. My interest was caught yesterday when I saw this 2015 Ch. Lalande from St. Julien. Never heard of it, so I bought it. Ch ...

To answer you question, 1975 Lafite. Not because it's my best/most valuable wine but it was a gift from the senior partners when I passed the California Bar in 1978.

2001 Sociando Mallet
The 2001 Sociando was popped and poured, no decanting. This bottle was close to maturity but has many years left. Good balance, medium bodied. I found no cedar or leather components on the nose. Blackberry, earth and herbs on the palate. One glaring element is the presence of green. I don't know if ...

Today's map shows Loxton at the frontline of the fire. At least it is a defensive location, unlike the foothills.

Since much of the fire (I believe this was the Nun Fire, there about 7 or 8 fires in the area) was around and above Glen Ellen I also wonder how Loxton is doing?

I think it is an under-appreciated vintage. I've been buying a few bottles of Rauzan Segla for aging but it so good young that it's hard to keep my hands off them.
