Re: Hotels outside centre of Washington DC

hi harry,

I can't help you with the hotel, but I'm sad we won't see you at the DC 09 convention. I would have been glad to chat about Chateauneuf-du-Pape and other wines.

Anyhow, I'm sure I'll see you sometimes in the future.

Re: TN: Budget 2000 Bordeaux - some good & some really bad

I had the 2000 Potensac in 2007, and it was still closed I think. Up to now, I have preffered the 1996 Potensac, but the 2000 will turn into something similar I think.

And yes, we need more TN about these cheap wines, as in those low economy days, we never know when we'll lose our jobs :-(.

Re: 82 Cos & Lagune, 83 Lalande, 73 Mouton, 86 Gruaud & more

Nice report Blanquito. And I'm happy that the 1982 Lagune and 1983 PL were preferred to other classics (82 Cos or 86 Gruaud). This proves that you judge wines independantly, according to your own taste. Me too in the past, i really liked the 1983 Pichon Lalande. I'm also impressed with the 1973 Mout...

Re: 2006 Bordeaux-- Where the rubber hits the road?

But, of course, governement is governement. Don't forget that people working in the governemental winestores, put bottles on the shelve, give you some advices on which wine to select, and type on the cash register, deserve 13-15 $ an hour. But the other guy, doing exctly the same kind of job, in a s...

Re: 2006 Bordeaux-- Where the rubber hits the road?

Jim, the 1995 were sold in Québec at the cheapest price on the planet. But if a governement that manage well the winestore would do a good job, it would have stay the same for the following vintages (or I mean, relatively cheap, not 1000$ for a 2005 Lafite, when, 10 years earlier, the 1995 was only ...

Re: 2006 Bordeaux-- Where the rubber hits the road?

You're right Jim. Everything showing that the 2006 prices should go down. BUT, here in Québec, we're lucky to have liquorstore/winestore that are managed by the governement. That means that the price will still be high, because they're buying the wines with our money. And after, selling high, becaus...

In my research of understanding of white Rhone, i bought and open a bottle of the 2005 guigal Condrieu , this weekend. Same price as the 2004 Guigal white Hermitage, I found the Condrieu, well, less interesting. Clear yellow color, nice aromas of peaches, mineral and soft spice. Add some honey melon...

Jim, Jim, Jim,

you need full retirement, far away from Maine, to forget all those cases. Why not in Québec, where a part of your family originate? New challenges like learning french... and I could taste those 2006 Bourgognes with you more often.

This seem really good.

I remember the 2001 we had this summer with Sdr/Kathy and friends. It was a great wine. I really liked the dark berries character. It was a complex wine, that will deliver better goods in 5-10 more years. Concentration was impressive but not too much.
