Very good Spanish wines, plus a terrific Alsace at Riverpark

Wines drank with dinner at Riverpark in NYC last Sunday. 1989 Dom. Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Turckheim, Alsace What a terrific bottle! Who says Trimbach’s got the monopoly on fine-aging Riesling in the neighborhood? Oooohs and aaaahs from around the table to the restaurant’s sommelier and wait staff w...

The first 30-40 minutes of the opened bottle was admittedly quite uninteresting. It was in the last couple of pours that made me take notice, and others in the table as well, about the really nice evolvement.

Re: Thoughts on the 1990 Leoville Barton?

I'm with Chris on this, i.e. it's good but not as good as some other 1990's. The only recollection of it is that I've had it in 1990 horizontals, it was OK, but not a standout. If I was buying, and would like to limit to LB only, I'd likely go for the cheaper but (imho) better 1996 version.

Not quite in the same level as the natural artwork that, say, Chianti Classico region is, but I agree, Tom, that the more rugged Lucchesi hills are still quite a site indeed.

I've had had quite a bit of fun with numerous 2002 Oregon PN, including a St Innocen't Seven Springs. Sadly, and regrettably, I've only 2 bottles left of any 2002 Oregon and those are the somewhat big ones from Patricia Green. I'll take this as my cue to line-up for drinking.

Another example of a Malescot that is as interesting as it is good-even from a very average vintage. It will continue to be on my buy list.
