Re: TNs: two simply Georgian wines

I've had some really lovely Turkish wines; there is some good stuff coming out of Anatolia.

I'm sure the wine will show decently! ;)

Je Pense que c'est la goutte anglais!!

I had a small tipple of this at a shop called the Sampler last week.
In the UK we can find older wines, but they can be hit and miss generally.

I'm quite a fan of the 78 style of wine generally and some of them are truly magical.

Having gone for cocktails and what-knot at Beach Blanket Babylon (notting hill, london), we migrated to the Ledbury (on the same street) for an 8:45 kick-off. We started with some lovely amuse bouche, paired with. 1990 Cristal, Louis Roederer (magnum) crisp, mineral, intense, subtle, long, lots of h...

Re: Jean Guillaume Prats leaves Chateau Cos d'Estournel!!!

I didn't enjoy the 09 or the 10 but I felt the 10 was better in terms of balance. Nothing wrong with either and they aren't reason he resigned. However, in terms of style, since Bruno Prats stopped, there has been a slow migration northwards into the riper fuller style from Cos, despite some great w...

Michael, I understand that the wine shops in London are a bit better than those in Dubai. You can check out this place in Mayfair: http://hedonism.co.uk/about.html I've heard it's amazing. You can stock up on 1811 Yquem. It's like going to a candy store. You can look but you can't touch until all y...

Yes, but not since the 2007 vintage which was superb.

Fewer and fewer people stock them in the UK now, I was surprised to see the Contours back in one of my local shops as I hadn't seen it for a while.

I'll have a look out for the 2010. ;)

No not at all.
I wouldn't call Pio Cesare strictly modern, and I have tried numerous old Barolo/Barbaresco that have been magical.

So there is no need to worry and this wine aged, but just not in the way I would have liked.

For Eiswein, I think they taste better young because they are so late harvest that the fruit character is fairly ripe, but the idea is then to effectively preserve any delicate fruit flavours. Of course, I don't know why, or how this happens as they are the same grapes just aged longer! Perhaps bein...

I'd give it a few more years before it really gets going but it should be super.
