Re: TN: 2002 Château Lagrange St. Julien (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien)
Another vote for 2002 Lagrange. I tried it a couple of years back in Holland and immediately went out and bought a case. It should be a fine wine for medium-term drinking, and in my opinion is on a par with 2002 Leoville-Barton, another splendid wine. I am much more worried about my case of 2003 Lag...

Re: Chateau Latour 2005 for $27 anyone?
Thanks for the feedback Hendrikus - are you based in the UK? I guess you must be...on another board a lot of people were very sceptical about this wine. They made the valid point that why would Latour sell this wine to TWS when it could bottle it under its own label at a much higher price? I have in...

Re: Local TN's
Terrific notes Roberto When I met Tom for the first time in October, with Alex and Blanquito, we drank the 1990 Monfortino and it too was a reference point for Barolo, though still adolescent. If it wasn't for the first growth 86s we drank the following night it too would have been my wine of the ye...

Re: Chateau Latour 2005 for $27 anyone?
Yes indeed it is Phil I got interested because the price hike for the 2005 is relatively modest. I am certain it is Latour, the issue boils down to whether it is the 3rd wine, or basically the 4th wine of Latour. If it is the latter the Wine Society has been telling porkies - or is being economical ...

Re: Chateau Latour 2005 for $27 anyone?
Alch it is good to see you, veritable BWE legend that you are, back in the land of the living...stay tuned, I will report back to be sure. Dirty little secret here I was trading on some inside information...the story goes something like this...Les Forts is not a proper second wine, it is actually a ...

Chateau Latour 2005 for $27 anyone?
Well not quite... ...it is the third wine of Ch Latour bottled generically by the Wine Society in the UK on sale for 19 pounds. Zachys sell the 2004 Pauillac De Latour for $80, now on sale for $64, so this struck me as too good to pass up. "This impeccable Pauillac comes via the back door of on...

Do rhones really cut it?
Eight of us gathered for a Rhone tasting organized by Patrick (Blanquito) ten days before Christmas 2008 in central Manhattan. Fifteen out of the 16 wines I had not tried before, and I approached the task with mixed emotions of skepticism – I count my self as a Rhone skeptic - and optimism – I half ...

Re: TN: Pre-Christmas dinner with Beychevelle '83
Hi Otto - and welcome to the new BWE site - glad you had a good experience with the Beychevelle '83. Singapore Airlines used to serve this in the 1990s and I had it a few times on my travels to the Orient. The last bottle I had in London a couple of years ago was sadly in significant decline. You we...

Re: Is that you Godot?
Hi Jacques - sounds like a good plan - David Wainwright the itinerant Aussie fine and rare wine specialist and consultant, and part time BWE lurker, asked if we could organise something in the first week of March when he is in town. Kittle House sounds like a great idea, and I know it is i your back...

Re: Is that you Godot?
Hi guys its great to be back...you can't imagine how frustrating it has been not being able to access BWE...and make provocative remarks... Looks like you guys have done and fantastic job and it has been well worth the wait Funny someone mentioned a mini off line in early March as long as it doesn't...
