Iowa to Trump: You're fired!
The media is gushing over Cruz but I share Jim's perspective with respect to Rubio.
It's a long race and the horses have just left the gate.

Re: President Trump
I supported Hillary 8 years ago and am for her now.
I have concerns about Sanders' revolutionary past and socialist agenda. If he gets the nomination (I think highly unlikely), they'll come at him hard over his past.
I could live with Bloomberg.

Re: What to think about 2003?
I bought a smattering of 2003s, hopefully the "good ones" based on what I read here, but I haven't popped many. Not enough to make any useful sort of comment on the vintage in general, though I've heard that there are a number of wines showing better than initial expectations from a super-...

I'll likely be starting a similar search in a few tears Danny, but I'm not a golfer. Traffic on and off the keys can be a bitch, but if you're retired you don't have to fight rush hour. And that squeaky pure white sand. And the sunsets... But Sarasota is no famous golf destination. The places in Flo...

Re: Premier Cru files for bankruptcy
No doubt the law varies from state to state. When Carolina Wine Company went bankrupt, there was a lot of wine on hand that was boxed up with specific customer's names on the packages, ready to be shipped. One guy said he could see his name written on boxes through the window of the shuttered store....

This should be interesting. Cool climate in the Mayacamas, biodynamic farming and the Tesseron commitment to quality. Maybe a Bordeaux-like wine in the offing?

Nice wine lineup. Sarasota, Siesta Key in particular, would be a sweet place to retire, but I don't know the golf situation.

Re: Premier Cru files for bankruptcy
My path with PC was similar to Patrick's. I almost completely stopped buying pre-arrivals around 2009 or 2010, having become fed up with the long wait on 2005 Bordeaux. I didn't really believe they were in a death spiral until last fall, but I managed to get out intact. I was stunned by the magnitud...

Similar experience with Total Wine here. I've bought a few things from them - Champagne and Bordeaux on the lower end of the price spectrum, and a few mid-range Bordeaux on sale. Usually they are higher than the DC or better California stores or the the now-extinct Premier Cru offers. I do believe t...

I agree with Arv that you shouldn't need a conviction to claim a loss for tax purposes. I also like Jacques' advice that the loss might be usable as an offset to gains on sale of wine, but ask the accountant.

Gerry, I think you are spot on.
Before the filing, I wondered if the California Attorney General or the FBI would be interested. But at $70 million, I bet they are plenty interested.

I think we've got enough from PC to fill a container. But it ain't a container full of wine.
