Well, I tried a 2004 Malescot in September 2019 and it was very disappointing. The Smith Haut Lafitte is a better bet.
I would try Poyferre before Barton and Pape Clement.
2004 Burgundies were very green upon release, they are much better now.
2004 Chiantis are fantastic.

Wonderful tasting Ian, the Palmer, Pichon Lalande and Rauzan Segla sound amazing. I hope you snuck up to the other table to have a sip. You didn't make out too badly though with the Bartons and the two Graves.

2012 Louis Jadot Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugien (375 ml) PnP. Stony, mineral-laden nose; coaxing reveals a mixed berry aroma. This needs time. Excellent mouthfeel but lacks fruit. Hold until 2025. These don't get too expensive when older. I bought at Winebid a bottle of 2001 Pavelot Dominodes for $61 (before all fees) in August '21. I think you can definitely enjoy young, Patrick. No need for 2-3 blanquitos, Blanquito. There are no harsh tannins a la Medoc, the wine will change with age, but ...

For white burgundies it was a Niellon Chassagne, in 1997 at Goumard Prunier in Paris. We were drinking something nondescript and struck a conversation with a lonely American businessman, he gave me a taste of his wine, the earth shook the angels started singing and nothing was the same afterwards.

I don't have much experience with young Pavelot 1ers. Burghound says the 2017 Guettes is more giving than expected, the 2017 Gravains will need a bit of time, and the 2019 Guettes is quite austere.
Decanting may not help much but it can't hurt
