Pichon Baron
Haut Bailly
Canon
Figeac
Tour St Christophe (the only one that's a total unknown but cheap enough to take a flyer based on hype)

I'll How a few of them on arrival and hope I live long enough to enjoy them in their prime.

Re: 2016 Bordeaux futures - anyone biting?

I haven't bought any wine since Thanksgiving. 226 days. No Bordeaux younger than 2012, and those only due to BWE arm twisting. Until today. I'd been resisting and resisting. Then along came Ian's write up, and I could feel myself weakening. Ultimately it was Peggy, though, who encouraged me to take ...

Claudius, my experience mirrors yours. I bought a case (a lot for me). I have had a couple of bottles that showed well in recent years but nowhere near as powerful as the ones consumed shortly after release. I've still got most of them left and am just sitting on them hoping that they will open up. ...

I haven't had enough vintages of Mouton to offer a broad experience-based opinion, but I would agree with SFEd that other than the 1982, Mouton lacks the depth and complexity of the other firsts.

I wouldn't be surprised either Ian, particularly if multiple critics score it as high. Sucking gave Beychevelle "only" 94-95 points. That ought to be considered an excellent score but from Suckling perhaps it's damning with faint praise. I agree W_D, critics' ratings got less useful the mo...

Frost alone won't kill the vines, just that season's crop if it hits at the wrong time. If it's really really cold long enough it can kill the vines. I don't know how cold for how long but there have been a few brutal winters in past centuries where significant numbers of vines died off.

I agree with Jay on the Champagnes. Both young. I preferred the steely acidity and laser focus of the Pommery to the softer sweeter Veuve. The La Chapelle fill was several inches below the cork, but it was still fully alive and kicking. Plenty of fruit, acid and tannin, nice aged complexity. It beca...
