Re: Maya's Clone

Hey Alch, you should join us in DC, the Saturday night dinner is shaping up nicely, rumors have it there are going to be some '95 d'Yquems in presence.
Heck a DC bash I would have thought was maxed out by now.

I'll ask Kathryn.

Re: Maya's Clone

The thing I've noticed about really nice high end wines is the balance and feel and to a degree the complexity far more than anything else. And what you want to spend on a wine is what you want to spend on a wine. Shite, I've had $20 or $30 something Rhones that have pleased me as much as or more th...

Re: Today's Premier Cru sale: Has the crash begun?

I actually don't know. Heck, I don't even look for high end wines anymore. I have around 400 mid to upper tier Bordeaux, and maybe 2 or 3 cases each of Porto and Rhone and Burgundy in the cellar, so I'm kinda satisfied. A scattering of Loire and Italians. My keepers. Mostly now I buy for 1-5 years o...

Chateau Carbonnieux Blanc

Even this 1999.

I've never been disappointed with this estate since first taste of the 1995. The 1999 is fine also. Nice fresh fruits, full mouthfeel, no holes, a pleasure. Better wines, no doubt. But this little $27 jewel is a keeper. Still have some other vintages, starting with 1996.

Sheesh, comte. Not my experience. This 'third wine' of Latour just isn't worth it. Price wise. I just can buy better wines lesser for the money. Just me, maybe you have a different experience. No biggie, just a difference.

That's all.

I have no idea.

But Comte.

What happened to all this extra wine in the past hundred plus years?

They "now produce"?

Like the junk grapes weren't worth making before, but now are.

I'm just confused here.

Latour is a brand now, not a Class.

I can confirm it is definitely a Latour and it is definitely made and bottled at the estate. Does this mean there are even less cases of Chateau Latour, or just less cases of the second wine. I mean, they have only a set amount of acreage of vines. I honestly didn't care for it. Better non-classed ...

Yes, Gattinara is one which I refer. Even had 'second wines' from some Barolo producers, odd names. Under $20. There are several village named wines in Piedmont producing Nebbiolo wines, I suppose Spanna and Vallana are some.
