TNs 2000 Ch. Duhart Milon +++

Had three wines last night that I had not tried in a while. They all get the green light rating so don't hesitate to step on the gas. 2001 Marcarini Barolo La Serra. This was really nice but the most tannic of the three. Evolved color and nice secondary flavors. Good body and acidity. There remains ...

Re: Checking in on the 2000 Grand Corbin Despagne

Been a while since I had either the 2000 or the 2005 but say around the 2012 time frame the 05 was way more readier (or let's say approachable) than the 00. (I also liked the 98 but that's all gone--I liked each of these wines and I wonder what more recent good vintages are like.)

I'm not surprised at all. Just a few years ago a bottle of another 1990 Listrac, Ch. Semeillan-Mazeau, was about as you described, only I liked it even more than you seem to this. The 1996, which I tried first, was so good too I bought out MacArthur's entire stock at either $9.99 or $12.99 a bottle,...

A couple of times in the past I have suggested that there is no reason to stop the Parker ratings scale at 100. Certainly such unratable wines could be rated 101 points, 102 points, etc. In fact, I believe it is inescapable because at this time the average EP wine seems to score 95-97 points from a...

I haven't had too many of his wines--certainly not Angelus and none he merely consults at--but the 2001 and 2005 Ch. la Fleur de Bouard were marked if not actually impaired at a young age by dilly, astringent oak. I had three bottles of the 03 DdC and I think I drank them all young. They were really enjoyable though. And based off that I bought some 06 and 08. Since then it seems to have closed the price gap some on the top-rank (ex-HB, LMHB) Pessacs.

Yes, Magdelaine was absorbed into the creation of a new and improved Belair-Monange starting in 2012, so they aren’t making it any more. And from what I understand Belair-Monange is much more modern in style. My question is more general: does anyone in St. Emilion make them like this anymore? Anyon...

These responses seem quite corrosive to the credibility of the numerical scoring system--or maybe the system is fine and the market is wrong. And I grant you that an "alter ego" is not the same as a diminutive.

I was interested to see Neal Martin's take on 2009 ten years on. He scored (blind) the 2009 Alter Ego higher than the Grand Vin, something I entirely agree with.
