On the subject of Leovilles, has anyone opened a 1995 LLC recently? I'd be interested in any recent experience since my only one was over 5 years ago, and it did not seem nearly ready at the time.

Sad story about Sherry Lehman; I was not aware of developments during the last 10-15 years. My very limited experience with them was when I lived in Manhattan for about 4 months in 1999 while working on a project there. I used to go to the store to buy a few bottles to stock the apartment.

I ordered 4 futures from 2019.

Siran, Tour St. Christophe, Lilian Ladouys - all lower level wines - have arrived. The only one still awaiting delivery is Pontet Canet, and given my futures price, I'm waiting to see if they really deliver it.

I wonder if you had some damaged bottles. I don't know this particular bottling, but it is a quality producer from a great vintage. Perhaps they were just too young? I've only begun to open some of my 2005 red Burgs.

Very nice report on a large number of wines, with many that I've never heard about. I'm kind of impressed that small operations can still exist in Napa with all the corporate and uber wealthy holdings that exist.

I've not had many 1982's, but of the ones I've enjoyed, I would put Pichon Lalande and Gruaud Larose near the top. Interestingly, I was at a vertical tasting of Pichon Lalande hosted by a former BWEer, Rich Julien, where the 1986 was amazing, and the 1982 was only great.

Nic, your description of the Raquillet sounds very tempting. But I see only one listing for this wine in the US on Winesearcher. I happened to buy and drink a bottle of the 2005 vintage of this wine, and my note said there was no need to buy any more. So they have improved a lot in the last 14 years.

RC, you buy this wine like I buy Felsina Chianti Classico. I just ordered my third case of the 2017 riserva, because it's so enjoyable as well as having some complexity. And it's a great food wine.
