[Ed. note: perhaps I should have put some smilely emphasis in this post.] Bloomberg. Surely this puts Obama over the top in Ohio and Virginia. [ ] But his reasoning - Obama's stance on climate change - is timely [ :o ]. Isn't the Kyoto thingy that we never ratified still a rallying point for ...

All these "peak production" scenarios are a bunch of Malthusian horseshit. You know Goldman Sachs is on the other side of this trade.

I did respond to a robo poll the other night. It asked whether I voted early and for whom I voted. What becomes of that I know not. I hope it wasn't the other side, they kept track of my phone number, and have put me on the enemies list.

I like Bourgneuf, based on the 2003, which is drinking well now. Don't fear the year! I always seem to find wines I like in the bargain bins marked "rustic" or "old school." Unfortunately, now that Bourgneuf will probably meet with approbation instead of disdain in certain quarte...

I don't play in that league but I understand the question. I think there was some (much) commentary when these last few vintages of all time debuted about how the en primeur pricing was at or above the price of comparable back - even way back and in prime time - vintages. It would be relevant to you...

Scutaro is almost 37 and maybe was 36 already when the Sox traded him end of last season. Yes he played well - very well actually - while the guys melted all around him in 2011 but he can't play SS anymore and Pedroia isn't going anywhere. I'll tell you though I knew he was going to drill it to righ...

This was very enjoyable and went down very easily. It did gain a little volume and fatty richness with air although it was definitely claret-scale. I chalk this up to the magic of that unique Bordeaux recipe of structured balance + good storage + a very sound cork = a mature yet vital wine in its th...

Meanwhile, from another vintage ending in "9"

1989 Ch. du Moulin Rouge Haut-Medoc. Well worth the $15 price tag (ex premium). At 23, this wine seems to be in a good spot, with mature flavors and plenty of vigour in the structure.Medium-bodied, it shows a kind of cedary, blood-iron bouquet and it has a slightly minty cast to the palate. It's lit...

Actually, depending on your point of view, you should drink Left Bank wines on the Grassy Knoll and Right Bank wines from the Mary Moorman side of the plaza.

We need a BWE tontine. Last man standing gets all the undrunk wine. What you describe Jim sounds a lot like the 2008 Gazin. Big, tannic, hard oak and a touch hot. And while I don't think it received 96 points, it bested the 2009 in the hyperbole department, being called a "hypothetical blend of...
