This wine never disappointed me. Very much open and fresh in Rayas style. Spicy with plenty of Garrigue and kirsch. Good intensity and complexity. Not rich nor overtly opulent but well concentrated with a striking freshness for the hot vintage..... outstanding performing...

Thank's for your kind remark Danny. Indeed, these wines take some time to come around. Giraud is an estate run by 2 talented young generation brother and sister. Wine is improving from year to year. Try to find a bottle of their Grenaches de Pierre.....I promise you you will be even more impressed.....

Great range of wines. I Im happy that most of them did show so well, and it shows that 1999 is very much open for business now. Personally I think 1999 is better than expressed by the 'prof's.........

Indeed, this is a great wine. I drank more than a case of splits over the past years. My last bottle was about 2 months ago and showed very much open and balanced.
In case you drink a regular bottle I would recommend you to decant for a few hours........

This is a full-matured wine. Rich palate with silky ripe black fruit, chocolate and spicy licorice. Ripe tannin and rather low acidity. The finish is lush and sweet but not very long. Last Monday I visited Andre Brunel in CdP. He just bottled the 2008 Blanc, an outstanding wine with a solid pineapple, citrus, pear fruit core and amazingly well balanced acidity/freshness. Sounds like it is more the vintage than the producer Harry. Any other recommended vintages for this wine? For me Guigal is not really a player in any CdP vintage good or bad. I see the 2007 Vieux Telegraphe La Crau is available at $60 from Premier Cru on futures... five dollars less than what I paid for the 2006 in NH. Jim, talking to many (almost all??) winemakers in CdP, almost all have one goal in common : producing wines with a better and more solid 'fruit-core' . Regardless the style, this counts for Pegau as well for Beaucastel, Charvin, Beaurenard and many many others. Although the use of oak (mainly used o...
