Another white Hermitage I liked!
Tonight, having a small dinner at home with MC and Simone, I did some creamy pasta with smoked salmon. Easy, tasty and good. With that, I took a chance and opened a type of white wine I have problem to understand. The white wines from the Rhone, especiallt North Rhone, have always been a mystery for...

In honor of CdP Harry, the 2005 Domaine Grand Veneur
Following the BD call to open a CdP for Harry, I did so last night. I openend the 2005 Domaine Grand Veneur . It was the regular cuvée, and looking at some ratings on the Internet, I read that Parker gave it 93... So the color was intense red. Aromas of kirsh, rasberries, sage, smoke. really concent...

Blanquito (or anybody else),
what would you consider a good age to ''start'' drinking Barolo and/or Barbaresco? Let say from a good vintage : 5, 10, 15 years?

Re: 1998 Domaine du Pegau CdP Cuvee Laurence has been uncorked
This seem really good.
I remember the 2001 we had this summer with Sdr/Kathy and friends. It was a great wine. I really liked the dark berries character. It was a complex wine, that will deliver better goods in 5-10 more years. Concentration was impressive but not too much.

Jim, I don't think more people will come, with me attending. I'm now a father : must be a good example for my daughter, serious, boring and not enough sleep. So in DC, I'll be sleeping 20 hours a day to catchup what I missed in the first months of 2009. I'll be at the main event from 7:00 to 10:00pm...

Re: Why are you not interested in Chateauneuf-du-Pape wines?
Hi Harry, so I will be able to see you in DC? I'll be really happy about that, as we missed a previous chance to meet in Germany. My souvenir of you, from the 2003 NY convention, is to far away. For me, Chateauneuf-du-Pape have sometimes a warm alcohol feeling in mouth and I don't appreciate that to...

Short comments on two bourgognes opened lately. 2001 Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Les murgers from Hudelot-Noellat : Again, a fantastic wine for me. Color is old rose petal. Just to let you know, I'm 35 so born in 1974. So you want wine pre-74? To keep it cheap, why don't we do a 1971-1972-1973 review? .

I can imagine that the 98 La Dominique is very good. Thanks for reporting eric. It has been too long, since the last time we saw each other, at Steve H place.
The bad thing for me is that I have only one Right Bank from the 1998 vintage : Troplong Mondot. That's it. Too bad for me.

-Martillac. I bought a few bottles of that Pessac-Léognan, after reading good comments about it in La Presse (Montréal newspaper). And how a Cru Classé from the Graves, could miss their wine in 2005? Impossible. So the 2005 Chateau Latour-Martillac is totally genuine from the Graves area. No wet ear...
