Interesting that only people in the trade will be attending. Is Bordeaux trying to revert to the bad old days when only cheerleaders and those flogging the wines get to taste EP?

Re: Extraordinary tasting in Copenhagen - Bx 1945 vintage

Certainly more fakes than genuine bottles of the great wines in truly geriatric vintages (basically anything pre-1959 and possibly through 1961) by now. One of the ironic bits of the counterfeiting business is that everyone is conditioned to expect and accept mediocre old bottles. So a fake bottle h...

I have to think that NYC without the lockdown would have been a bloodbath. It's no surprise that things seem normal in Downeast, Jim, as population density seems to be a key ingredient to the spread of the virus.

Canon '82 was probably the worst wine of the vintage for percentage of corked bottles among the wines I've had a bunch of times. No idea why.

We're still drinking Tuscan wines pretty regularly.I think they can represent good value (outside the biggest names) if you like the style. No, it's not going to be like Bordeaux or the Northern Rhone. I've always liked wines from all over the place, relishing the variety, so the "I'd rather sp...

I remember seeing a "Plain Old Pearson's" price list from the mid-1960's. Most 61 firsts were $3, Lafite was $4, and Petrus was $6.

If those prices were actually from 1963, inflation on that $3 price would be $25.36.

With a reverse-sear tri-tip roast, we tried the first half of a bottle of 2002 Branaire-Ducru. A very 2002, very JimHow kind of wine. Plenty of fruit on the nose and palate but a bit lean in the finish. I'll try another one soon before I decide between zero or one blanquito.

Fast tracking is not what I meant by "bending the rules". Danny's article, for example, says the test subjects will be observed for 14 months to see if a) the vaccine is safe and b) if it creates any immunity.

I wonder if September might be a problem for the chateaux selling the previous year's vintage (say, 2019) - isn't that late enough in the growing season to have a good idea of the quality of the current year's vintage on the vine/being harvested (2020 in this example)? If the vintage still on the vi...

The poll is hard for me to answer because in my experience both options are true. a) There are many thousands of producers in Bordeaux and I'd guess that the large majority of them produce wines under $30.
