Re: Put down the bottle and back away slowly.....

In defense of Bush Lite... He was a failure as a governor (although not as bad as his good hair successor), yet the country elected him to a post for which he was obviously not qualified. Instead of blaming him for everything, blame the American voter. After all, do you blame an untrained puppy who...

Re: The 2005 Bad Boy has been uncorked....

Somebody else has been making a Bordeaux blend doctored with syrah and marketing it as an eighteenth-century style Bordeaux. It's Palmer or one of the other big boys (not bad boys). Palmer released a bottling like this, because it frankly would be the truest representation of 18th Century Bordeaux....

I agree with David....if these are acceptable, then why not cameras on every corner everywhere, to catch potential thieves, muggers or jay walkers? And if we agree to cameras everywhere for this purpose, are they not part of the public record, subject to subpoena by ex-spouses, employers or anyone e...

Jim, that program is alive and well in a number of places, including Canada, if I'm remembering correctly. I have a problem with it, too, in the sense that they're randomly assuming everyone is guilty - and taking a small piece of their privacy and freedom - to catch the few that are. As David said,...

I've had a number of '94's and still own a few. I've had the LLC a number of times over the past few years and it's very nice. Barton is also strong in '94, as was Haut Brion as Jacques mentioned. I recall having the Montrose quite a few years back, way too early, but I think it should be nice, too.

Re: TN: 2000 Domaine Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc (France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc)

Leflaive has possibly become my all around favorite white Burgundy. There are some other producers I adore (Ramonet comes to mind) but the price of admission is such that you really can't drink them very often. Leflaive at the upper end ain't cheap, either, but you can get some decent bottlings with...

Fabulous photos, Brad. I've gotten away from most things Oz myself, after taking the enamel off my teeth a few years back from an Integrity with an alcohol of about 17%. Guide me to the more classically styled bottlings, which I think might appeal to me more.

Partying like a rock star. Sounds like a great evening, food and wine. Some of the more recent DRC Gr Ech have almost as much power as the Rich, but '82 is probably not the best measure of it any way. The Rich sounds like it was worth the effort, as well as the rest of the lineup! Just an average we...

You know, Jon, I was thinking about that this evening. I'm sure JScott and the others who were on the old Wine Spectator site would agree. Yeah, I feel the same way about PM wines. They are certainly good wines, and I sometimes find the Pavots to be right on, but just as often it isn't special enough to keep going. The Chards are good, but as my wife doesn't really dig whites, I just don't need them. I had still been buying the Aubert ...

Agree. The Cali version of Pinot may as well be a different category to itself, with a very few exceptions. It either appeals to you or it doesn't. As a generalization, in my view, Burgundy develops much more nuance, complexity and subtlety whereas Cali Pinot is ebullient, fruity and round. They are...

I would echo David's comment above. I think it's probably best to ignore the "MD" designation for David and I. I think it's irrelevant in the context and maybe I'm self-conscious about it but I don't want it to come off the wrong way.

I suggest we leave it as it is for now as it is certainly serviceable at the least and does recall the old BWE site. It's one of those things we can work on over the coming months, if necessary, but we may find it grows on us, if even in a familiar, kitschy kind of way.
