Lisini Rosso di Montalcino 04 and 06

Sangiovese fans on this board (who kindly reawakened my love for Tuscan reds!) will know more than me about this producer but my sense is that Lisini is regarded as being at the top of the Brunello tree but at more sensible prices than more celebrated names. I have 6 Brunello 04s in the cellar. (Abo...

Re: Wine fridges

Oh dear - this thread is making me come over all guilty. I drink good red wine every day (claret, burgundy or Tuscan Sangiovese), more than I should (much more than the UK govt says I should, anyway) and have done for decades. At my age it's one of life's few remaining pleasures. How sad is that. Ri...

Zalto Denk.Art glassware

Have these made any impact in USA? In UK I've picked up quite a buzz about them - particularly the Bordeaux and Burgundy glasses. They certainly look striking and elegant. Priced between Riedel Vinum and Sommeliers at about £27.50 a stem.

Will treat myself to one of each I think!

Wine most often drunk in 09?

Happy new year to you all from a snow-bound UK. Not best wine of 09 but which wine did you open most often in 09? For me it's a surprise and I owe it entirely to you guys of BWE who returned me to Sangiovese after many years of spurning it. Many thanks to all the expert Sangio fans on this board. So...

Bel Air (St Est) v Potensac 05

These are terrific. The Bel Air 04 I recommended some time ago but the 05 is a predictable step-up without compromising its very reserved, traditional profile. The Potensac I also enthused about here so I thought I'd compare. Geographically close, of course, and similar UK price (c£13), and the cepa...

I agree with David - leftbank 04 is really a very BWE vintage in style and in value (the last value vintage?) and for me Langoa and Soc Mallet were/are just amazingly good for what was their opening prices - as was/is Durfort but I think I'll have a time propelling this Margaux to the BWE wine of th...

Only caught the end of this news and you guys probably know already, but Broadbent apparently won his UK case for defamation (?) against the billionaire's vinegar book and the UK copies have been pulled. Thanks - am about to post on a round-up of Sangioveses but just wanted to say that the 06 Selvapiana Riserva Bucerciale was oddly evolved and lacking stuffing though clearly of good pedigree. Wondered if 04 is the better vintage, despite the hype around 06?

Your limey friend Richard was Hamlet as an Oxford postgraduate. A friend at the time, who later became a Famous Actor, said of the performance: 'You were quite good in Act 5'.

That's what friends are for.

I heard about a major bust-up between the owners and Parker. They apparently won't have him on the premises. Perhaps we should instigate a BWE plaque for such properties to display. Thanks, Winesense. I too like the Dom de Chevalier 04 and nearly put it in the list of best values - but the first two bottles from my case have had a rather strange green vegetably twang behind the quality fruit - perhaps your point about it actually being shut down is the explanation.
