I have no 02 burgs but perhaps an 08 St Innocent-I have two or three designated vineyards. Also some champagne. But it is Friday so anything but Bordeaux. Joel's tasting menu will accommodate a variety of reds I believe.

Re: Bordeaux Down the Shore

It was nice to see Joel again and meet Brian and Catalina. Brian's notes are good-the VC was a little over dosed for me, the Bara was delicious. Early days but the 05 La Lagune may be a top tier vintage for this producer. I doubt I'll open another bottle for several years. All wines drank well but i...

Re: Seeking input on BWE convention venues.

I strongly prefer Bistro Bis for Friday. Charlie Palmers seems to be worse every visit. Last year featured missed courses and inedible food for our table. I realize that food is far from the main event with us but paying a substantial tariff for not even lackluster cuisine seems to be a waste of our...

Another great time in London hosted by Ian. Nice to see everyone had a good time but I don't understand the discipline of a 3 bottle night for three people? Very untraditional-BWE night. The discipline of a 5:00 a.m. awakening., Danny lol. Greetings from The island of Naxos. I would call this the o...

Re: If my stocks are down 20% and my wine is up 20%, in which should I invest?

I still like my real-estate-is-mostly-likely-path-to-billion-dollars strategy, which Jacques corroborated with his algorithm a couple years ago. No argument there. We did extremely well with the sale of our previous home and our current residence (and only property) has increased in value exponenti...

I bought 20K of 1 series bonds last year and this year. Not much in the portfolio overall but it's tied to inflation so current yield is over 9%. We're slowly dollar cost averaging the proceeds from our home sale last year via our planner's advice. I won't get more complicated in the uncertain world...

Re: Is Gruaud Cordier brett a bad thing?

A plus for me when in moderation. Two factors account for the diversity of opinions: 1. Variability in palate preferences and 2. Ability of Brett to grow under warmer storage conditions, increasing the effect. +1 I think the latter is a bigger deal on these older bottles. One producer that also has...
