2017 might not be as heralded as 2015 or 2016 vintages, but I started to like these.
Don't know anything about this producer, but inspired by Jal, I purely went on Volnay 1er name, and a 35 dollar price tag. I figured I can't get a Premier Cru for 35 bucks anyway these days. So why not? So much so, that after tasting it, I got 3 more bottles of the same for 35 bucks, and a couple of more of the 2016 version for 46 each.
Just gave 30 minutes of air, and I really loved it. Not as robust as other Volnay 1ers I have had, but delivers a lot for 35 bucks. Nice red fruit nose with a bit of incense. On the palate, raspberry jelly with the tartness of red cherries. Nicely balanced with ample acid and smooth tannins. Very enjoyable. Feel like opening another one...

Re: 2017 Dom. Vaudoisey Volnay Les Mitans
I know that Jacques says that every vintage is great in Burgundy, but what's the deal with 2017? I really liked the simple 2017 Jadot Nuits St. Georges, it was delicious.

35$ for a Volnay 1er Cru? That still really exist in 2022?
Nice short report Chateau Vin, but what's telling all, is the last sentence you wrote!
