Bordeaux poetry

Post by Musigny 151 »

Well this what happens when you have an idle hour in a doctor’s office.
There was a young man from Luton,
Who drank his Lafite with his suit on,
He downed his Ducrus
Without any shoes,
And wore nothing at all with his Mouton.

A critic of modern Bordeaux
Says when aged all the wines will just blow
He’d rather backfill
Than drink the new swill
Unless ABV is quite low

I'm not nearly as creative as you gents but I love both Mark's and David's. Although I think I might need a bit more in depth explanation of Mark's to fully understand. Only educated guess right now. Maybe thats because I've never had a Lafite!

The way I understood is...

Guy from Luton started great starting with Lafite way back when everything was cheaper.
By the time he started drinking ducrus he couldn't afford shoes, and...
later bought Mouton,
but by the time he drinks them he wouldn't be able to afford clothes on his back...

Mark was referring to BD, when he lamented that he probably might have to sell the Mouton to maintain his retirement living...
