2015 LB vs. RB

Post by Racer Chris »

Last night I met a new wine friend. We friended on Cellartracker, and it turns out we live less than 5 miles apart.
We got together at my shop in the evening to share a bottle of 2015 Cantemerle from my cellar and a 2015 Tour Saint-Christophe from his cellar.
We enjoyed the wine with a couple duck legs he brought. Among other topics we had a lengthy epistemological (he's a philosophy prof) discussion and didn't head home until after 10pm.
Both wines are drinking well at this stage of their development. We decanted the St Em but not the Haut-Medoc and that worked just fine. The house style of both wines was evident, both well balanced and showing decent structure but no strong or drying tannins to detract from the finish.
I'm not a fan of 15%abv wines in general but the TSC carries it well, only showing a little heat. The Cantemerle at 13.5% is perfect.

Nice. I’m still trying to figure out what OB has against the 2015 Figeac.

Too ripe and glossy for his palate, I think. And 14% ABV.
