My last purchases for a while - retired today so picked these up to celebrate. And drank a 2005 Chablisienne Les Clos and a 2010 Uccelleria Brunello to kick off the party.

In HK they use Mouton Rothschild for that.
On its own they complain that the taste of the Mouton stays in their mouth too long.
Oh well…

Picked up 6 OWC 2016 Leoville Las Cases at auction plus one magnum VR Suchots and 6 Pommard 1er Cru both from 2018.
Also been buying more 2019 Justin Girardin Burgundies from SLB, Santenay, Chassagne Montrachet Rouge and Pommard, plus 2019 Beaune 1ers Crus from Morot, being a few from each of several vineyards - Marconnets, Bressandes, Teurons etc.
Not sure if any of you see Justin Girardin wines. I’ve done a few Zoom tastings with him and the local importer. They are very good value particularly when the inflated prices of most Burgundies are considered. His whites are good but the reds are better though that is most of his production. The 2014s are a’ point now and I’ve been impressed by the vineyard characteristics that give each wine distinctive flavours.
The wines from 2019 seemed pretty successful with good fruit and structure.
Did a Zoom tasting earlier this year with Morot and the local importer and tasted pretty good, maybe in a more commercial style that decades ago??
The wines are still reasonably priced for Burgundy so I have a few cases of recent vintages. Not sure about the ageing but the 19s tasted good young.
Cheers

Not tasted this but had the Vaucrains recently and that was very good, so have high hopes for this.

6x 2019 Ducru Beaucaillou for $1150 all in. One of the few I wanted and didn't catch other than Clinet and Pichon Lalande for the 19s.

Went to a garden center in Allendale, NJ and ended up swinging by the Ramsey Bottle King location afterwards as I was in the neighborhood and I am glad I did.

Wow the winesearcher low on the Dauvissat Clos is like $400! I guess it still pays to shop in person!

Re: So what have you bought lately?
Jealous. I really want to try the 2014. I'm partial to that vintage in general. I was in providence last weekend and was going to buy a bottle at a wine bar there but couldn't quite find the time. Oh well. Will keep an eye out.
Re: So what have you bought lately?
Currently sipping Remoissenet Meursault La Cras 1er Cru, 2015.
This is a powerful white Burgundy and in a very idiosyncratic style. I imagine some would not care for it but it is incredibly complex and rich without being flabby and overdone.
Nice light gold colour. Nose shows ripe yellow fruits and nutty oak. Palate shows the ripeness of 2015 with tangerine and honey, quince and almonds. Nicely toasty and with enough minerality and acidity to handle the fruit density. The 2014 is racier, longer and more mineral, but this wine is so rich and intense.
This is the first bottle from the case and I look forward to the rest. Not for Sav Blanc lovers of course…

Bid on some German wines at the VDP auction, but the prices put them so far above budget ( I did get a couple of bottles) that I used the money to buy non auction wines in London.

2 x 6 of Ch. Canon 2016 - yes I know it did not get upgraded - but it is half the price of Figeac 2016 and two thirds the price of Canon 2015 - and some of the critics reckon it is better than the 2015. At £665/6 ex tax it seems like a reasonable medium-term proposition.

Re: So what have you bought lately?
Good catch Ian. I've been not buying much lately, too much spending on private school for my kids, orthodentist treatment for Simone and lodging reservation for Italy in July 2023... looking forward November, when I'll be able to spend a bit more on wines!

Re: So what have you bought lately?
I still have some 2013 Fevre Bougros, we drank a bottle of that last week and it was delicious but not as rich as one would expect from a Grand Cru, I bet you'll like the 2014 Billaud Simon 1er better.
Best

Re: So what have you bought lately?
Ok where can we lay down bets on Ian buying more in 2022?
I have gotten my buying somewhat under control in the last year or so, but I just sprang for a case of 2011 d’Yquem at $200/bottle all in (750s)

Mmmmm VERY well done, Marcus, I love that vintage for d'Yquem.

Re: So what have you bought lately?
We drank that wine in 2015 at... Chateau d'Yquem.
One of my highlights of that magical trip.
Indeed, it was my wine of the trip.

There's a Nicola video at d'Yquem out there as well, I couldn't immediately find it.
2011 d'Yquem will always be an epic vintage in my book.

Re: So what have you bought lately?
Per critics and Cellartracker 2011 is a great vintage for d’yquem but a small rung below 2001-2009-2015 which seem to be viewed as the very greatest vintages of the past 20 years. However they are roughly two to three times the price of the $200/bottle I paid for 2011. I did wonder if I should get 6 bottles of the 2015 for the same price I paid for the case of 2011

Well done Marc, Alex gave me a bottle of 2011 Yquem last week which I plan to open sooner rather than later.
Re: So what have you bought lately?
Very good catch marcs. The 2011 Château d'Yquem was marvellous when we had it at the Château in 2015. A great Yquem.
