A ten year olds view of BWE…

Post by marcs »

I was walking with my ten year old this evening and passed a new store advertising itself as a wine bar/wine club. I knocked to try to get in but it was closed.

My son told me to move on — “dad it’s a PRIVATE wine club full of crazy people. Just like your precious Bordeaux Wine Nutcases”

Out of the mouths of babes…

He is so right, and wrong at the same time! Cute.

Marie-Claude, my kids, many of my friends, my parents, are all thinking the same as your son.

It has always been ok for me to be unique, special, friendly, open, so BWE suits me well.

Gosh. I consider BWEers to be normal, rock solid, salt of the earth types.

But then I am a mathematician....

Sister David Mary would have smacked me upside the head if I talked like that at his age.

A very accomplished and observant young man, and on the whole very polite when we had dinner, though not always relaying his criticisms of the food in a whisper so the rest of restaurant could hear, this did remind me a bit of this Fawlty Towers sketch:

Ian
Maybe eccentric would be a nicer term to use but being different isn’t a bad thing anyway.
