My first sip of this wine at pop and pour led to an immediate wow. A beautiful deep purple but still transparent. Nose is quite expressive with lilac, clean sheets, licorice, and the smell of a woodshop. Palate is ripe red plums, just a touch of dark chocolate and a finish of menthol and bing cherries. Tannins are very fine and the crunchy, almost sparkling acidity is just fantastic. Lively and flowing with a perhaps full body for Bordeaux but probably medium + as compared to the new world.

What a value.

It must have been warm vintage to get that chocolate/merlot note.

I remember buying and drinking the 2010 Fleur Cardinale shortly after it’s US release and feeling similarly to your experience.

I have a couple of the 2010s and a 2014 in my cellar, the last vintage I drank was 2010, it was a stunner. I can imagine the 2019 is great.
