Lafaurie Peyraguey new bottle and label

Perhaps this has been out for a while but I had not seen it

There is a kind of embossed strip on the bottom which is really quite beautiful. I have to say I like it more than the old classic Cordier styling.

And certainly much more tasteful than what has been done at Rieussec to 'reposition' the brand

First of all he content matters for sure, but as a brand it may be no good sign to change a label as you are self confident and proud of where you come from.......

I think they are trying to also reposition for a higher price point, and in many cases, packaging matters.

I like the new look, although am not really buying new release Sauternes at prevailing prices.

It seems like the owners have tried to strike a fair balance between keeping their old clients (with some nod to the traditional bottle shape) and finding new ones (with design cues highlighting tasteful luxury). They don't have the same ability to sell their wine the way the Rothschilds can with Rieussec, by forcing potential Lafite purchasers to buy it in a bundle.
