2000 Clos du Marquis as bad as d'Armailhac

Post by jal »

Decent enough nose, but tastes watery with very little fruit anywhere, my third similar bottle from the same case. I should stop subjecting myself to this. BTW, I loved the 1996 when I last had it, about four years ago, after reading Jay's note, I'm glad I didn't age any of those.

That sounds like my experience with the 2005 Clos du Marquis: Thin and watery.

Again, Cellar Tracker Notes (tons of them) are all over the map on this wine over the last 2-3 years -- 80-95 points, "needs time," "won't age," etc. I do think this is a pretty simple wine, and I've had many vintages -- '86, '89, '90, '95, '96, '00, but worse -- it's clearly irregular due to something -- different batches, bottling methods, I dunno. And again, RP gives this wine 20+ years of life . . .
