I'll upgrade this by a point in my most recent tasting. I still like the 2006 d'Armailhac a notch better, but this Clerc Milon is a pretty classically-styled Pauillac. Its tannins are a bit sharp, but the cassis and currant stands up to the structure of the wine in the end. It probably will be solid for another decade before declining. (90 pts.)

So you have changed your mind about Clerc Milon, Jim? It is no longer a wine to be shunned?

I always liked Clerc Milon OK, but, unlike D'Armailhac, it is a wine that requires patience.

I found Clerc 06 subtle and quite marked by its Merlot. Good wine.

As you know I've never been a big Clerc Milon fan, Stefan, but I liked a bottle of the 2004 that someone brought to a blanquito dinner a couple years ago. I also remember liking a 1985 Clerc Milon late on a Saturday night after a BWE convention dinner in some hotel in some city. I don't remember much beyond that other than that Nic was in the room....
