TN: a couple of Bordeaux

Post by Harry C. »

  • 1998 Château Grand Mayne - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru (7/10/2010)
Initially, right out of the bottle a disjointed smell of VA, green vegetables and plums. But over the course of three hours, it just melded together, opened beautifully with sweet black/red fruits, a touch seasoned salt. Taste was smooth but there is a presence of tannins on the end. Mouth was mildly tobacco, red fruits. Nice. If you open one decant an hour+. (93 pts.)
  • 2000 Château L'Enclos - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol (7/2/2010)
Garnet. Nose of a medium weight and age Bodeaux-blackberry and seasoned salt. Taste was medium-to-light weight Bordeaux. Nice enough. (86 pts.)

I had an 89 l'Enclos about five years ago that was really delicious. Better luck next time.
