2008 Mouton...

Post by JonoB »

Gets a Chinese Artist's label... It is actually quite a nice label, but some clear marketing and not wanting to get left out of the Lafite phenomenon going on me thinks. People forget that a Chinese artist painted the 1996... But then there isn't an 8 in the year!!

Discuss?

I think Mouton should give a case to the Chinese dissident who won the Nobel Peace Prize and who is languishing in jail.

Best,

What's on the label, a pandering bear?! Think I'll switch to new world wines now.

It is a remake of an old work of his, but with a sheep in the middle.

I will dig out the original, and the label. It is from an artist who 'laments the disappearance of traditional culture' and as such is probably lost on the Chinese anyway, like the 1996 label by Gu Gan.

At least Bordeaux has a trade surplus with China.

When will the Chinese get into Yquem? It's sweet, would match Chinese food and be great on its own, and was synonymous with luxury for ages. Lafite seems like an odd wine for them to have fixated on, Yquem seems like a natural.

It's not to do with the flavour and wine, but to do with the showing face and prestige.
