Cellartracker

Post by William P »

After my computer drive was wiped by a virus and human error, I thought I should put the cellar on Cellartracker for the sake of redundancy. I must admit to being impressed, great software, intuitive and yet powerful. It's fun to look at my stats. The board should be happy to know the cellar is 51% Bord and 45% Burg. I have not totally gone over to the dark side.

Does anyone know if Cellartracker can take a feed from an Excel spreadsheet? I have my cellar info in Excel and I cannot fathom the idea of entering hundreds of wines a second time.

Jon, you can import data from Excel into CellarTracker. Your data is first staged in a holding area, while you perform the only challenging part -- verifying or selecting which CellarTracker wine names match your wine names. Once all of the names are verified, then your data is loaded into the main area.

I don't load my wines into cellartracker anymore. Too much effort.
I just put them on the racks, will find some unexpected gems 20 years from now....

Hmmm I'm not so sure the board is so happy to know that, Bill....

Just the opposite. I think they are alarmed at the high percentage of wines from the devil's cellar....

An "Ideal BWE Cellar" from the BD's perspective: 99.999% Bordeaux, and the one interloper among the 10,000 bottles would be a gift from a guest who just didn't get it (but won't be invited back.)

And of course plenty of 1989 Lynch Bages in every format imaginable, from 375ml to 15L.

love cellartracker, have my wines and their price evaluations. Maybe a few gliches, but eric is very accessible and whenever i make a comment on ideas or constructive criticism he responds in a timely manner.

I'm slowly loading my cellar into CT. A valuable resource.

I read somewhere that all you need to do is send in your excel, which I did and never got any response or results.

It would be too painful to enter each bottle.

Eric personally converted my data from an ancient proprietary DOS program, importing over 1000 bottles and multiples of that many TNs on bottles previously consumed. For free. The guy is a prince in my book.

I should add that it is becoming my first stop for TNs especially as it incorporates your subscription(s) to the various wine publications. CT TNs are generally conservative and the ability to tag favorite posters makes it easy to get reliable info. My handle is my name-what a concept!

New member to your forum and first time post. Its probably appropriate I post my first comments in here as Im a big fan of cellartracker and actually discovered this Bordeaux wine enthusiasts website through it being recommended on a Leoville Poyferre 2002 page.

It took me about a week to upload the contents of my cellar but well worth the effort as I had previously just been using a Word document which was a rather clumsy way of keeping a track of my wines.
