Buy (don't steal) this book!

Post by JimHow »

Okay, I am blatantly groveling for support here but, hey, I'm not too proud.
This is a proof of the cover of my novel.
It is still undergoing a few final tweaks, but the book should be available in the next 2-4 weeks.
It will be out in hardcover, paperback, and Kindle.
(DaveG and I have already been discussing this, we'll have to offer a free copy to the winner of the blind tasting at DC '12. Now if THAT doesn't make you want to attend the BWE convention next spring, NOTHING will! )
The story is about a criminal defense lawyer in poverty-ridden central Maine during the year following the September 11th terrorist attacks.

Congratulations, Jim, on the appearance of the book. Must feel great to finally see it appear. Any characters with the initials RP? :) Looking forward to reading it.

Jim,
Congratulations! Who is the publisher? I liked the interview and your idea about the realism of a lawyer's practice. I will try to get hold of a copy and read it.

Jim,
I know you are a Patriots fan and I'm not even really a big football fan (I'm a Jets fan - haha!), but I have to gloat a tiny bit. Manning really pulled off a stunner yesterday. I felt lucky to have watched the end. I guess we will see you next week.

Hmm, Jim. Your hippie look was more fitting for a writer. What happened to it?

Ha yes that picture is ten years old, Stefan, the newspaper pulled that one out from their files.
The book will have the long-haired "tortured artist" picture on it....

The Patriots are toast, Chasse, they're not even going to make the playoffs.

Lisbon Street is the main drag in downtown Lewiston, Hound. 93% of all books sell less than 500 copies, 97% sell less than 1,000. I'm guessing I'll be in that 97% grouping.... Although, hey, we already have a book reading/signing scheduled!

Let me add my congratulations, Jim. Writing a work of fiction takes an incredible amount of effort, concentration and creativity. Well done! I'll be looking for it on Amazon. Please post an update when it's available.

You can't criticize the paper for using an old pic - hey, they gave you publicity which is great! But I gotta ask - what kind of paper editor lets "funnest" slip by the old red pen?

Well, that's the writer Mark LaFlamme, himself a six-time novelist in the Stephen King mold, he's a jokester, I think he did that intentionally. Book should available on Amazon in about ten business days!

Congratulations Jim. Writing a novel is quite an achievement! I always wanted to do it but never had the guts/time to start! I hope it will be translated in french, as even if I understand well and speak english, write in english, read technical stuff related to my job in english, I have a tough time reading novel in english...

For my part, i hope you did not forget to include in your novel, an appearance of the ''vicious'' 1988 Vieux Chateau Certan... or the ''boring'' 1993 Chateau Batailley... or those two guys, who sneak in a bottle of the 2001 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ-Canet from Sauzet, in that tourist lobster restaurant in Bar Harbor... or (can't believe I'm writing that myself!) that weird guy with his pants down, glorifying the Maine ''genuine, real, unbeattable'' pie de la whoopie...

I think the book is going to be available either tomorrow or Monday on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and a bunch of other places. Kindle version is going to take a little longer.

I'll autograph a copy for anyone coming to DC '12! (Or, of course, for anyone else, for that matter.)

It's a good little story, a perspective about the law that you might not catch on TV or in the movies....

Wow! Thanks David!
The Amazon site is literally going up as we speak!
You are the first customer!
It is bare bones right now but the paperback and Kindle options will be added shortly.
You'll receive your book long before Jan 10, it's just not in stock quite yet.

Yes, it was on there if you typed in Lisbon Street, Stefan, but not now.
It does appear now if you type in "Jim Howaniec."
The site is very skeletal right now, you can only buy the hardcover.
The paperback and Kindle options are not up yet.

Thanks, Jim. Your name is indeed necessary when doing the search. I just bought a copy and will bring it to BWE 12 to get it signed by the author.
