Getting the tannic thing out of the way first … yes, this has wall-to-wall tongue-coating tannin that lingered until the very finish. The very Left-bank Bordeaux bouquet showed cigar and freshly-sawed wood.
Beyond the tannin, this is one good wine for the price. Showing delineated layers of lush red and black fruit, the well-defined structure and fine balance, the silky texture, and that long tasty finish, all made me think that this is better than the 2000 version that I had upon release. I’ll be happy drinking this today, but I’m more excited as to where this could get to with more years of cellar time. A-
Edited to add: Bottle was given to me as a gift last summer and I took out from my home wine fridge and left lying in my room-tempearature living room during the last 2 weeks with intention of drinking it. Didn't get around to opening it until now.
