BWE 09 Thursday Night - Rhone night
BWE 09 Thursday Night - Rhone night
Thought I would start a thread to see if we can organize a small Rhone gathering on Thursday night
Stefan and Jon have already indicated an interest
I am waiting to hear from Jay on the name of the place we went in 07 as a possibility
Jay mentioned on another thread about an interest in Rhone and so am I
I believe I can arrange a corkage waived dinner at the capital grille
Lets see if we can prearrange which Rhone wines and think a little about matching food and wine
we can try for a couple whites and big reds from the North and South
Who is in for Thursday Rhone night......Maybe Harry can swoop in for this with a stash of 07"s

Hi Rick,
I would be interested but, as I'm arriving only Friday, any chance to do the Rhône dinner on Friday night instead?

Re: BWE 09 Thursday Night - Rhone night
It sounds like most people will be in town by Friday afternoon at the latest. It would be great if we could have everyone together on Friday night, after being split up on Thursday night. Is there a venue that can accomodate us?

Chris
I thought Jay proposed Rhone but the Burgundy interest prevailed
and we swapped a message / post about doing Rhone Thursday night
If that is wrong i am happy to change "focus" on Thursday

Thursday night is at The Capital Grille in DC and we ended up with no specific theme However
Stefan and Lucy are dying to open some Burgundy
I may sneak in a Rhone
It is a small group so far which is often the case on Thursday nights
Let me know if anyone else is gettng in a Thursday and would liek to join us at 7p
you can e-mail me also rickju at comcast dot net

that's what I thought but those darn Burg people keep trying to change the theme. Seriously, I think Dino's cuisine would be best matched to Rhones and Italians but I am merely the organizer.Winona Chief wrote:I thought Jay Winton was planning a Rhone dinner for Friday night.

Jay, I am planning on bringing EyeTalian and/or Rhone on Friday and Burgundy on Thursday.
Rick, which would you rather try from 1997: Bouchard Bonnes Mares, Hudelot-Noellat Romanee St Vivant, or Jadot Corton Pougets? For a second Burg I was thinking of something younger, from either 1995 (sic) or 1999.

Rick,
Hi, just to let you know I would like to attend the Thursday night dinner at The Capital Grille. I'll probably bring German or Champagne starter and something red.

Never!
That would represent a total capitulation to Whuzzup__.
Seriously, I've loved these Burgs I've been drinking, but classic Bordeaux is another level.
The key word being "classic," not this Parkerized stuff.

Just catching up and man am I glad to see in print that Jimmy H(bd) has not really been turned to the darkside. Finally admitting that Bordeaux rules. I was scared for awhile.

Ha that drew a laugh out loud, danny.
Sometimes things get lost in translation over the internet.
I assure you, I am still a Bordeaux Wine Enthusiast now and fotrever!

Rick,
It now looks like Paula and I can make the Thursday dinner at Capital Grille. Looking over the mentions of wines, and knowing the restaurant, I will probably bring a couple of Rhones.
Looking forward to seeing folks.
