2003 Vrai Canon Bouche has been uncorked and other ramblings
Didn't have a lot of this the other night so I thought I would revisit it tonight. I recall a more prominent bouquet the other night up against the '05 Lanessan. A purple/ruby color that looks like it may be fading a bit.

I've had good bottles of this wine and not so good.
Sometimes it is singing, aromatic, borderline violuptuous.
Other times it seems like a $12.50 supermarket wine.

Boy this bottle seems awfully thin.

Coming on a little with air, but not enough to avoid tonight's "Boring as a '93 Batailley" award....

Keep some Jim.
At the convention, I want that specific bottle of 2003 vrai Canon Bouché, the 1993 Batailley and the magnificent 1990 Pichon Lalande. Why not add the 1989 Ducru Beaucaillou?

I saw that PC was offering the '89 Ducru recently for the "bargain price" of like $99.
They've gone mad. They are madmen.

I like Vrai Canon Bouche since the 20005 vintage. Stephane Derenoncourt is the consultant now. I'm not sure what they were doing back in 2003.
Here's a little bit of background on the winery. www.thewinecellarinsider.com/?page_id=1676

Some of us here liked the 2003 Vrai Canon Bouche early on, Jeff, thus my case purchase. It seems like it may be past its prime at age nine though.

I drank 10 of 12 03 VCBs while it was a fresh, primary, chalky, cool wine. The last bottle showed some secondary characteristics and was a good bit drier - while at the same time longer - and I liked it better. I don't like "second day" wines unless they've been frozen. They always seem muted and thin to me if they're not frozen overnight/week.
