Extra: Chasse to peddle Bordeaux!

Post by Chasse-Spleen »

So, my Burgundy Devil boss has finally emerged into the light, and crossed over to the great cause. Meaning, he has taken on several Bordeaux wines in our portfolio, which I am very excited about. Does anyone have any information or opinion about the following wines? Of course, they are Bordeaux, so they must be great, right? A couple are under-the-radar but known wines.

Chateau Pilet 2010 - red and white from Entres-Deux-Mers
Vieux Chateau Gachet 2009 - Lalande-de-Pomerol
Chateau Franc-Maillet 2006 - Pomerol
Chateau Moulin de la Grangere 2009 - St. Emilion GC
Chateau Lousteauneuf 2009 - Medoc!

I am very happy to have these devils ahem I mean angels aboard!

Jeez, I didn't know you were working in the wine business!

Personally, I only know one of the above, Lousteauneuf, which has a stellar reputation as one of the best wines from the AOC Médoc.

To sell these wines efficiently, you need fact sheets (grape varieties, number of hectares, ageing, etc.), and the very best way to make those is to visit the estates:
take photos, show them to your customers.
Enthuse.
That'll move cases.

Failing that, contact the importer and/or distributor and request (and later demand if they don't react) information.

All the best,
Alex R.

In the "Maillet" group I'd been eyeing some Vieux Maillet but not Franc or Tour. In the "blowout" email just I ref'd in David's thread the 03 Franc is offered at $17.

The Franc-Maillet is excellent. I tried it over the past two days. Very good aging potential. 80/20 on merlot and cab franc. 50% new French oak on the merlot. Full bodied but balanced, slightly exotic from the high percentage of cab franc.

The two Chateau Pilet wines, red and white, are nice authentic styled inexpensive bottles.

Alex, do you know where Franc-Maillet is located? I can't find the exact location in any of my books.
Thanks,

There are at least 3 Maillets right there in the northeast corner of Pomerol, between the Barbanne? and St. Emilion. Tour, Vieux, and one other. I'd guess Franc is there too.

Hound,
Where are you getting this info from? What is/are the nearest high-priced Chateaux?

There seem to be numerous google hits, Chasse, if you google the name of the estate.

Sorry, I think Gazin is right there. It's very close to Petrus really, but down off the clay plateau so a world away.

I might as well add, the red Chateau Pilet has been a hit at one of my accounts.
