1990 (at least I think it's a 1990) Argiano Brunello di Montalcino. I may bring something else to fill a need that arises.

Mmmm...
Looks like we have Italian, southern Rhone, and Burgundy so far.
I think I'm going to bring a Bordeaux!

I think David is shifting some champagne from Saturday to Friday. I could bring one champagne-maybe a Lanson 96 and a red for Dino.

OK, here are a couple of bubblies for starters:
NV Egly-Ouriet Brut Tradition Grand Cru
NV Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Rose

I can add a CduP if necessary.

Propping up the vini d'Italia side of the list, we'll have

Podere il Palazzino 1985 Vino di Tavola Grosso Senese 1.5 liter
Giacosa Bruno 1998 Barbaresco Rabaja'
Antinori 1998 Guado al Tasso

On the other thread about the Dino dinner, I suggested that my bottle of '63 Taylor go on the Friday list instead of Saturday.

I shipped it to David, but he can hand it over to me before Friday evening, whatever is easiest.

That would be a treat. The only 63 I've had was Fonseca and it was amazing-better to me that night than the 82 Mouton! :o

Stuart, we can do that, or... I've got an '87 Nieport Colheita I can bring. Not exactly the pedigree (or even the style) of a '63 Taylor, but it might do the trick if you would prefer to serve the '63 on Saturday. Your call.

Jay, I'm not surprised that you picked the '63 Fonseca over the '82 Mouton. After a long, wine-filled evening, I always seem to pick a Port or sticky as WOTN. They seem to have an unfair advantage. Not sure if it's the something about the wine itself or all the wine that preceded it, but I almost have to regard them in a separate category.

you make a good point. The 82 Mouton was also far from maturity (may still be for that matter).

I could bring a 1936 Rivesaltes (a Vin Doux Naturel) if we need a dessert wine for Friday.

I will buy locally the wines I will bring to Dino. I was thinking a Rhône (Chateauneuf or Norther Rhone?). I can bring a bottle of sticky too. Let me know.

I say bring 'em both on Friday (or at least mine). This could be a good opportunity for the group to drink Port. We have lots of sweet wines scheduled for Saturday already.

Dean will provide several stems per person and decanters. He is a winelover and a BWE member. We are in good hands.

Nice picks, Howard! The '88 VT was an under-the-radar wine that we really enjoyed, but ours have been gone for quite a while. It'll also be interesting to touch base with a couple of Bruno's 98's.

See you in a few days!

Hmm, Jim posted in the other thread that he's bringing a '98 Beaucastel, and Howard's bringing an '88 Vieux Telegraphe. I think I'm gonna have to bring an '88 Beaucastel.

I know you will but we have lots of wine already so don't worry if you don't have time to shop. I think the strategy will be to pick flights of bottles and open them so to avoid wasting all this great juice.

Again, while I doubt I will be there much before 630, feel free to come earlier and drop off/open bottles as we have the room for the evening and it is private. The neighborhood where Dino is located is called Cleveland Park a variety of merchants. It is a short walk to the National Zoo as well.

Ok, just to make sure we'll have enough wine, I'll bring 2 little bottles at Dino.

1996 Côte-Rôtie La Landonne from Guigal
2001 Domaine du Pégau Cuvée Laurence Chateauneuf-du-Pape.

If we don't need them, we won't open them. But I'm sure we'll need them...
The 2001 Cuvée Laurence is great. I had that in Miami last summer, with SDR and friends.

Not sure I'll have the Landonne. But the Pegau is confirmed.

See you tomorrow.
