TNs: four disparate but equally loveable wines.

1997 Alsace Grand Cru "Kastelberg" Riesling; Marc Kreydenweiss
apples, quite rich, metals, minerals, grass, herbs and hay, quite rich with good length, nice poise, some zip and crisp balance. Herbs and elegance, with good length, cooked lemons. More forward than the last bottle and very pleasant... Nice breathe; starting to unfurl in the glass, but a little bit too forward to hit the heights of the "Ledbury bottle". 69/100

2010 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Perrieres"; Jean-Louis Chavy
crisp, mineral, lemons, a hint of stewed fruit but very backward; almost verging on closed, some rich buttery notes on the nose, but mineral, clean and zippy on the palate and finish. Cooked lemons, lovely balance and poise; slate, marble and some earthy saline notes, underripe green olive, and very long. Very broad, Needs more time barring POX and will be lovely. Very much a Chavy type wine! 67-71+/100

2007 Barolo Classico; Massolino
dusty, earthy, tar, strawberry, roses, raspberry and plum, nice richness and sap, with funk, but also very fresh with a mineral note; some blood and raw meat (veal). Truffle, herbs and an angostura bitter note. Lots of perfume; with good rusticity. Very much a food wine; soft tannins, lots of bitter food-friendly notes. Really lovely and will develop more leafy forest floor notes; some nice forest fruits, nice sandy, clay depth. Really super. 68-72+/100

2006 Translanzas Tempranillo; DO Cigales
Smoke, dark plum and cherry, mint choc chip, lots of angostura bitters and black fruit, cassis and an almost silky structure. Some earth, some roses and strawberry, with an inner perfume. Nice depth and a soft structure, with good length. Some fresh spring leaves, raw tobacco, if anything it reminds me of 2002 D'Armailhac. It is really loveable and has excellent length, but it is classic, with a balsamic note... Some rocks, graphite and salinity. 68-71+?/100
