Dallas BWE Information and Map

Post by hm$ »

I wanted to give everyone some preliminary info on BWE 13. Below is a link to a map, which will give you some reference points.

http://mapq.st/YtjLeU

Items 1, 2, 3 and 4 are likely venues for Wednesday - Saturday night offlines, with Item 2 (The Mercury) being the leading contender for the Saturday night event.
Item 5 is my home.
Item 6 is the Arts district (home to the musuems of note).
Item 7 is another cool area of town, and popular hangout area, called Bishop Arts with a number of good (but not BYOB) restaurants.
Item 8 is the airport.

My plan is to secure a hotel for BWE central somewhere very near Item 2 once I lock in the restaurant this week.
FYI, the distance between Item 2 and Item 6 is approximately 15 minutes drive time.

Comments/thoughts are welcome.

I am staying at Best Western Plus Dallas Hotel & Conference Center 8051 Lyndon B. Johnson Freewas Dallas, TX. Available a few days ago on Priceline for around $70 with a good breakfast buffett.

I am arriving on Wednesday afternoon.

I would not recommend Glenn's hotel.

Because it backs onto a very, very high crime area. And because of the 235 people who have reviewed it on TripAdvisor, 42 of them rate it "poor" or "terrible".
I live less than 3 miles from the hotel in question, and while it is probably the best of its direct neighbors, it's not a place I'd recommend.

Howard, what do you think of the Hilton Lincoln Center or Park Cities? Thinking of getting a room w/points.
